About the position

As the DCS/PLC Engineering Supervisor at Clean Harbors, you will oversee the design, commissioning, and operations of the Aragonite control systems and associated process control networks. This role involves managing proprietary DCS/PLC systems, ensuring operational readiness, and leading a team to enhance plant reliability and performance while prioritizing health and safety.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the design, commissioning, and operations of Aragonite control systems.
  • Interact with site I&E team for instrumentation repairs and calibrations.
  • Program control systems and instruct contractors.
  • Manage parts ordering and work order systems.
  • Ensure compliance with health and safety practices.
  • Proactively manage controls production environment to avoid incidents.
  • Implement logic changes to improve plant reliability.
  • Coach operations and technical personnel on control strategies.
  • Develop and implement process control algorithms.
  • Establish and manage goals and key performance indicators for control systems.
  • Lead resolution of control system performance issues.
  • Drive continuous improvement in control system infrastructure.
  • Maintain backups of critical systems and improve process control network.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering (Electrical, Chemical, Automation/Instrumentation preferred).
  • 5+ years of control system experience.
  • Proficient in plant control system maintenance and design.
  • Experience with DCS and PLC programming from various manufacturers.
  • Familiarity with computer networking and TCP/IP.
  • Training/certification in ABB and AB hardware/software preferred.
  • Ability to work independently and off-hours as needed.

Nice-to-haves

  • Training in ABB and AB Networking Standards.
  • Experience with SCADA, VMware, ControlLogix 5000, FactoryTalk, ABB 800xa Control Builder.
