As an Underwriter III at Taylor Morrison, you will play a crucial role in the mortgage underwriting process, ensuring that all loans are thoroughly reviewed and underwritten according to agency and investor guidelines. This position requires a strong focus on customer service, as you will be collaborating with Management, Loan Consultants, Client Coordinators, and Closers to facilitate smooth loan processing. Your responsibilities will include determining and issuing credit decisions for FHA, VA, and conventional mortgage loan applications, including high balance and super conforming loans. You will assess the borrower's ability to repay by validating their employment, income, credit, assets, and collateral, while also clearing any applicable underwriting conditions. In addition to your underwriting duties, you will be responsible for maintaining up-to-date knowledge of all agency and investor underwriting guidelines and credit overlays. Providing high-quality customer service is essential, as you will be expected to meet the company's service level expectations. You will also complete reviews of loans that will be underwritten as prior-approved loans with the company's investors, providing valuable feedback to Client Coordinators and Loan Consultants. This role may require you to perform other duties as assigned, showcasing your adaptability and willingness to contribute to the team's success. To excel in this position, you will need a Bachelor's degree and a minimum of 10 years of experience in the mortgage or finance industry, with at least 5-7 years of underwriting experience. Holding an FHA Direct Endorsement Certification and VA SAR is mandatory, along with a comprehensive understanding of FHA, VA, FNMA, and FHLMC underwriting guidelines and investor overlays. Proficiency in automated underwriting software and the ability to analyze individual and business income tax returns are also essential skills for this role.
