About the position

The Deal Strategy, Contracting, and Risk Support Senior Manager will play a crucial role in the Government & Public Services (GPS) team, focusing on deal and contract structuring, risk management, and negotiations. This position requires extensive experience in managing the lifecycle of professional services contracts, ensuring compliance with internal policies, and providing strategic guidance to various functions within the organization. The role also involves mentoring colleagues and enhancing knowledge of contracting practices in a dynamic environment.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with deal desk and contract review activities and support sales team with deal and contract structuring, RFI/RFP/Proposals, and contract review.
  • Intersect with various functions including sales, legal, finance, and delivery to act as a strategic advisor to manage deal flow and optimize sales and contracting cycles.
  • Work closely with deal teams and legal in reviewing and negotiating agreements, such as master agreements, confidentiality agreements, and teaming agreements.
  • Own risk consultation and contracting review of scope of work/SOW documents.
  • Provide guidance on contracting and negotiation strategies and ensure cross-functional alignment through contracting life-cycles.
  • Ensure contracting requirements are met and handled in a manner consistent with the Firm's policies and good business practices.
  • Assist with ongoing contracting, risk management, and mitigation support for ongoing contracting requirements - SOWs, Change Orders, amendments, and renewals.
  • Facilitate continued compliance with contractually required policies and processes and with the Firm's internal policies.
  • Collaborate with different functions to socialize agreement/contractual requirements and business terms.
  • Work actively with account leadership and quality team to identify and help mitigate post-signature delivery and engagement risks.
  • Maintain knowledge of core professional services (IT, Managed Services, Outsourcing) and product offerings to support contracting and risk matters.
  • Manage contractual matters and risks independently and act as a trusted advisor on multiple accounts.
  • Provide mentoring and training to Risk Management colleagues and a broader audience to enhance knowledge of and compliance with firm's policies, templates, and processes.
  • Pursue, assess, and advance firm's initiatives in software, cloud, data analytics, operate services, and privacy & security.
  • Support strategic initiatives pertaining to development/updating of processes, tools, and templates to improve overall risk management and contracting practices.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of direct contract negotiation for technology services (i.e., technology delivery and implementation services).
  • Experience in writing and reviewing scope of work documents with a focus on incorporating actionable and measurable guidance to address specific risks around delivery execution.
  • Experience influencing a diverse set of stakeholders and driving common outcomes during commercial contracting processes, including terms and conditions.
  • Knowledge of professional services contracting lifecycle with an emphasis on technology services.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without the need for employer sponsorship, now or at any time in the future.
  • Ability to travel up to 25%, on average, based on the work that you do and the clients and industries/sectors you serve.
  • Bachelor's degree.

Nice-to-haves

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree preferred.
  • Experience in consulting or a professional partnership.
  • Experience handling risk issues pertaining to a variety of contracts such as operate and technology preferred agreements, cloud agreements, and software licensing agreements.
  • Experience with the Financial Services Industry (FSI) and understanding of the unique risks affecting this industry.
  • Ability to prioritize critical needs, act decisively, and handle a high volume of complex tasks within a given timeframe.
  • Ability to listen and learn, and a consistent record of making and explaining appropriate decisions.
