About the position

The Dealership Accountant III is a lead position responsible for ensuring the timely, accurate, and consistent recording of dealership transactions. This role involves managing the transactional posting of dealership activities and requires strong accounting acumen. High performers in this position will develop their accounting and financial skills while also enhancing their relationship and leadership abilities, paving the way for potential advancement to an Accounting Manager or Business Manager role.

Responsibilities

  • Submission of Service Contracts
  • Submission of Warranty Contracts
  • New car purchases and Dealer trades
  • Recording of used car purchases
  • Request and process lien payoffs
  • Processing of cash receipts
  • Regional check runs
  • Processing and payment of vendor invoices
  • FTC reconciliation
  • Accounting for manufacturer monies (parts, warranty, incentives, misc.)
  • Posting to Intercompany accounts
  • Posting of New & Used Car Deals
  • Recording of wholesale vehicle sales & purchases
  • Collection of dealership wholesale & retail AR balances
  • Process Refunds checks, customer referrals checks
  • Warranty Cancellations
  • RDR, Rebate Reconciliation
  • Schedule reviews and maintenance (SAR understanding, SPARK Notes)
  • Understanding of all Product Payable lines and ability to reconcile Statements
  • Balance Intercompany for transactions they initiate
  • Bank Reconciliations (Daily and Monthly)
  • Schedule reviews and maintenance (understanding of SARS, Spark-and timelines for exceptions)
  • Accounting for manufacturer monies that may fall outside of the Parts Statement
  • Balance Intercompany (ensuring zero for all stores for end of month)
  • Ability to train/lead team members while meeting individual timelines
  • Understanding of posting templates and ability to facilitate adjustments to them
  • Strong understanding of packs and how it relates to posting (Deals/product payables/cancels)
  • Other duties as assigned
