About the position

The Dean of the College of Nursing at Rosalind Franklin University will serve as the academic leader responsible for overseeing the college's departments and programs. This role involves collaboration with administration, faculty, staff, students, and the community to advance nursing education and research. The Dean will lead the college in achieving excellence in nursing programs, ensuring compliance with accreditation standards, and fostering partnerships that enhance educational opportunities.

Responsibilities

  • Lead nursing programs with a vision informed by national trends and RFU-specific opportunities.
  • Facilitate growth within the college through the development of new programs and expansion of existing programs.
  • Lead accreditation efforts and ensure compliance with applicable standards and national/regional accreditation requirements.
  • Provide vision for future trends in planning educational, clinical, and research offerings at the nursing college.
  • Promote and support basic science, clinical, translational, and educational research.
  • Incorporate innovative technologies and pedagogical approaches in the educational program.
  • Support student success throughout the educational program.
  • Promote a culture of interprofessionalism at RFU.
  • Engage donors and support fundraising efforts for the college and university.
  • Ensure the selection of a high-quality, diverse population of students.
  • Support the recruitment and development of high-quality, diverse faculty and staff.
  • Provide a supportive and inclusive environment for students, faculty, and staff.
  • Serve as a role model representing the highest standards of excellence and compassionate care.
  • Oversee the education and welfare of nursing students.
  • Recruit, mentor, and retain administrative and educational program direct reports.
  • Integrate education programs to enhance interprofessional opportunities for RFU students.
  • Establish and maintain relationships with alumni and solicit philanthropic support for the college and university.
  • Seek new program growth opportunities that align with the college and university's mission and vision.
  • Develop new educational pathways and models for students.
  • Contribute to the development of non-tuition revenue-generating opportunities for the college and university.
  • Provide oversight for the day-to-day administration of nursing programs and ensure compliance with quality standards.
  • Manage the college's budget and recommend faculty appointments and promotions.

Requirements

  • Earned doctorate in nursing or a related field and master's degree in nursing required.
  • Currently licensed as a registered nurse.
  • Minimum 7 years of experience in higher education administration with leadership and management experience.
  • Experience with program growth, including starting new and expanding existing programs.
  • Professional accomplishments and scholarly productivity supporting a faculty appointment at the full professor level.
  • Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills with a record of successful program development.

  • Experience in a highly regarded academic nursing program with complementary health sciences programs.
  • Demonstrated ability to create innovative educational programs.
  • Familiarity with accreditation processes in graduate nursing programs.
