About the position

The Dean of the Larry L. Luing School of Business at Berkeley College is responsible for the overall planning, management, and assessment of academic programs. This role includes ensuring program accreditation, leading faculty hiring and evaluation processes, and fostering relationships with advisory boards and accrediting bodies. The Dean will also focus on student success, retention, and learning, while demonstrating leadership in curriculum development and innovation.

Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership for program development and collaborate with faculty on curriculum planning and modifications.
  • Set priorities for resource needs and provide program analyses and multi-year instructional plans.
  • Participate in strategic and long-range planning for the School of Business.
  • Stay updated on new developments in higher education and perform market analyses for program growth.
  • Oversee academic program reviews and maintain relationships with business and civic communities.
  • Promote student success and academic program completion through strategic initiatives.
  • Provide personnel oversight, including recruitment and support for faculty and staff development.
  • Monitor faculty loads and supervise instructional programs, ensuring compliance with accreditation regulations.
  • Engage in strategic planning initiatives to achieve data-driven goals and outcomes.
  • Develop articulation agreements to enhance student success and completion.

Requirements

  • Doctoral degree in a relevant discipline.
  • Five years of educational administrative experience at the director or department chair level or above.
  • Experience in developing and evaluating new programs and curricula.
  • Evidence of innovation and entrepreneurial successes in an academic environment.
  • Experience with specialized accreditors like the Middle States Commission on Higher Education.
  • Five years of successful teaching experience in a post-secondary institution.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to motivate and build consensus among diverse groups.
  • High level of professionalism and sound judgment.
  • Familiarity with higher education policy issues.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with onsite, online, and blended course delivery methods.
  • Familiarity with systems such as Canvas, Civitas, Engage, Image Now, Office 365, PeopleSoft, Power BI, Salesforce, and UltiPro.

Benefits

  • Competitive salary range of $155,000 - $170,000 per year.
