About the position

Texas A&M University-Central Texas invites nominations and applications for the position of Dean of the College of Business Administration. The Dean will serve as the academic and administrative leader for the college and will be responsible for the strategic and academic direction of its operations. The Dean will work with department chairs, faculty, and staff to achieve the goals of the college and the university through shared governance, collaborative and consultative processes, and consensus-building. The Dean will be committed to faculty and staff development and adopt strategies to support faculty teaching, scholarship, and service, consistent with the teacher-scholar model. The Dean will report to the Provost/Vice President for Academic and Student Affairs.

Responsibilities

  • The Dean should have solid external community outreach and fundraising experience.
  • Enhance the reputation and ranking of the College at regional and national levels.
  • Effectively navigate challenges by managing change, addressing crises, and mitigating risks to ensure the college's continued success.
  • Lead efforts to enhance recruitment, retention, and graduation rates by developing programs for both traditional and non-traditional students.
  • Create and foster relationships with internal stakeholders, alumni, industry, and other external partners to support fundraising, outreach, and the college's growth.
  • Focus on experiential learning, academic achievement, career preparedness, and supporting student organizations and activities.
  • Develop and implement a vision for the college, aligning intermediate and long-term growth plans with the university's strategic and institutional effectiveness plans.
  • Leverage strong decision-making and problem-solving skills to resolve complex issues, drive continuous improvement, and achieve strategic goals.
  • Initiate and support activities resulting in continuous improvement of undergraduate and graduate teaching and research, including program accreditation, ongoing curriculum review, reporting, and quality assurance through the college's institutional effectiveness report and external funding.
  • Ensure compliance with college, state, and national standards, as well as accreditation requirements, including maintaining AACSB accreditation.
  • Supervise the administrative staff and department chairs in the conduct of the routine business of the college.
  • Maintain programs for effective academic advising, degree planning, and maintenance of student records. Certify students for graduation.
  • Develop and manage the budget for the college.

Requirements

  • The minimum requirement for this position is a doctoral degree in a discipline closely related to the college's areas of study, such as business, accounting, finance, leadership, or computer information systems.
  • Fundraising experience and building community connections, including marketing programs.
  • Eligible for tenure and rank of full professor in a discipline in the college.
  • Leadership experience at the department chair or higher level, with demonstrated excellence in teaching, research, and faculty support, and a participative, transparent, and equitable leadership style.
  • Strong organizational, communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills, with the ability to effectively engage with constituents at all levels, including students, faculty, and administrators.
  • Proven record of leadership and service to the community.
