About the position
Westfield State University is seeking an innovative and collaborative leader for the position of Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences. This role involves leading a diverse group of faculty, managing a significant budget, and championing the liberal arts education. The Dean will be responsible for promoting diversity, equity, and inclusion within the College and ensuring continuous program improvements while supporting the academic and professional development of faculty and students.
Responsibilities
- Supervise an Administrative Assistant and academic department chairs.
- Manage the College's budget and resources effectively.
- Lead faculty in developing a vision for public liberal arts education.
- Promote diversity, equity, and inclusion within the College.
- Work with departments to implement the new general education program (WISE).
- Ensure academic programs meet the needs of 21st Century learners.
- Develop effective assessment plans for academic programs.
- Support faculty scholarship and creative activities.
Requirements
- Earned terminal degree in an academic discipline appropriate to the College of Arts and Sciences.
- Demonstrated record of distinguished teaching, research/scholarship, and service consistent with a tenured faculty appointment at the rank of Professor.
