About the position

The Dean of the College of Arts & Sciences at Maryville University is a leadership role responsible for overseeing academic programs, student success, and resource management within the college. The dean will work collaboratively with faculty and program directors to enhance curriculum development and foster an inclusive learning environment, while also supporting the university's strategic goals.

Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership in curriculum development, program review and evaluation, learning platforms, and assessment in collaboration with program directors and faculty.
  • Foster and evolve Maryville's active learning ecosystem.
  • Recruit and retain faculty that enhance the quality and diversity of the college.
  • Provide efficient fiscal administration of college resources and facilities.
  • Support Maryville University's strategic plan.
  • Represent the College's accomplishments, needs, and concerns to the Vice President of Academic Affairs.

Requirements

  • Earned a terminal degree from an accredited institution in a discipline offered in the college.
  • Demonstrated student-focused approach from excellence in teaching to policy decisions.
  • Commitment to fostering an environment that values and supports diversity of ideas, opinions, and backgrounds.
  • Ability to develop, promote, and implement mutually beneficial relationships with stakeholders within the college and across the university.
  • Use of data-informed decision making to serve learners.
  • Strong oral, written, interpersonal, and teamwork skills.
  • Interest and curiosity in a broad range of disciplines.
  • Appreciation for the traditions of Maryville tempered with adaptability to the changing landscape of higher education.
