About the position

The Dean of the College of Business at Slippery Rock University is responsible for providing academic leadership and strategic direction for the College. This role involves developing a vision aligned with the institution's strategic plan, enhancing academic programs, fostering faculty development, and promoting community and industry collaborations. The Dean will also manage enrollment initiatives, oversee employee relations in a unionized environment, and ensure the College's accreditation and program quality.

Responsibilities

  • Provide academic leadership for the College of Business.
  • Develop a forward-looking vision for the College in line with the institution's strategic plan.
  • Lead strategic and long-range planning efforts.
  • Foster faculty development and encourage alumni and community relations.
  • Advance the College's development and fundraising programs.
  • Promote international partnerships and collaborations with industries.
  • Enhance academic program offerings and ensure assessment of outcomes.
  • Manage employee relations in a unionized environment.
  • Recruit students and increase enrollment and retention.
  • Form an effective College Board of Visitors.

Requirements

  • Earned doctorate from an accredited institution.
  • Distinguished record of teaching, scholarly achievement, and professional accomplishments sufficient for appointment as full professor.
  • Five years of higher education administrative experience at the department chair level or above.
  • Strong leadership and negotiation skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with administrators, faculty, and staff.
  • Knowledge of a wide range of programs outside traditional business programs.
  • Commitment to promoting diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in developing innovative programs and distance learning.
  • Managerial experience in a collective bargaining institution.
  • Successful fundraising experience and development of corporate partnerships.
  • Experience fundraising in a capital or comprehensive campaign environment.
  • Experience with AACSB accreditation.
  • Ability to align budget goals with strategic planning initiatives.
