About the position

The Dean of the College of Humanities and Social Sciences at Hamad Bin Khalifa University (HBKU) is responsible for developing and implementing the college's strategic plan, enhancing academic programs, promoting research initiatives, and fostering collaboration within the university and the broader Qatar Foundation's Education City. The role also involves recruiting and retaining a diverse faculty and building relationships with external stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement the College's strategic plan, goals, and initiatives.
• Oversee and enhance the College's academic programs to meet the evolving needs of students and Qatar society.
• Promote and support innovative research initiatives and interdisciplinary collaboration across HBKU and within Qatar Foundation's Education City.
• Recruit, support, and retain a diverse and high-caliber faculty.
• Cultivate strong relationships with external stakeholders, including alumni, government bodies, collaborating institutions, and industry partners.

Requirements

• PhD in an area of social sciences or humanities.
• Earned the rank of professor at an established, well-recognized university.
• Proven experience in academic leadership, including successful administration, program development, and strategic planning.
• Excellent track record of scholarly research, publications, and funded research projects.
• Forward-looking perspective on the role of humanities and social sciences in addressing local, regional, and global challenges.
• Track record of engaging and collaborating with stakeholders.

Nice-to-haves

• Knowledge of the region and competency in the Arabic language are desirable.
