About the position

Shenandoah Conservatory is seeking a visionary and innovative leader to serve as the next dean. This role is pivotal in enhancing the Conservatory's national profile and success, advocating for excellence in the arts and transformative education. The dean will lead fundraising initiatives, manage financial operations, and oversee academic and administrative activities, ensuring the Conservatory's growth and the preparedness of its graduates for professional success.

Responsibilities

• Provide strategic leadership in financial management and personnel support.
• Lead significant fundraising initiatives and manage financial operations.
• Oversee all academic, administrative, and operational activities of the Conservatory.
• Inspire and collaborate with faculty, students, staff, and donors to elevate the Conservatory's profile.
• Nurture a dedicated senior leadership team and support 125 faculty and staff across 27 academic programs.
• Work closely with the University president and Office of Advancement on fundraising efforts.
• Collaborate with the Conservatory Advisory Board and maintain relationships with core donor groups.

Requirements

• Hold an earned terminal degree or possess equivalent professional experience in the performing arts.
• Demonstrated transformational leadership in academia or arts organizations.
• Exceptional administrative expertise in developing leaders and managing complex budgets.
• A deep connection to artistic excellence in music, theater, or dance.
• Strong commitment to academic excellence and fostering inclusive communities.
• Proven skills in fundraising and community engagement.
