About the position

The Dean of the School of Arts, Sciences & Education at Ivy Tech Community College serves as the principal academic and administrative leader, responsible for achieving the College's mission and strategic initiatives. This role encompasses planning, budgeting, staffing, curriculum development, and ensuring instructional quality and student success. The Dean actively represents the School and the College to various stakeholders and may also deliver classes as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the principal academic and administrative leader of the School.
  • Plan, budget, schedule, and staff academic programs.
  • Ensure program and instructional quality and student academic success.
  • Promote the School and College to various constituencies including students, industry, and educational partners.
  • Identify opportunities and challenges for the School in relation to workforce needs and instructional resources.
  • Work with faculty and administration to develop and modify curricula.
  • Coordinate student recruitment, advising, registration, and retention efforts.
  • Manage the School budget and allocate resources effectively.
  • Interview, select, and supervise faculty and staff.
  • Monitor student progress and provide advising support as needed.
  • Participate in community outreach and establish academic partnerships.

Requirements

  • Doctoral degree preferred; Master's degree required.
  • Minimum of 3 years applicable industry experience.
  • Minimum of 2 years of relevant teaching or training experience.
  • Demonstrated competency in supervision and leadership.
  • Evidence of ongoing professional development in the field.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with secondary and post-secondary partnerships.
  • Involvement in workforce development initiatives or industry councils.
  • Doctorate preferred for the School of Arts, Sciences, and Education.
