About the position

The Dean of the Forsyth School of Dental Hygiene at MCPHS is responsible for overseeing the educational, clinical, and research activities of the School. This leadership role involves strategic planning, curriculum management, faculty development, and ensuring accreditation standards are met. The Dean will also engage in service activities and contribute to the academic success of students across the Boston and Worcester campuses.

Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership for the Forsyth School of Dental Hygiene.
  • Oversee accreditation processes for the programs within the School.
  • Manage curriculum development and implementation.
  • Hire, mentor, and evaluate faculty and staff.
  • Collaborate with faculty to recruit students and support their academic success.
  • Identify opportunities for extramural funding to support School initiatives.
  • Oversee daily operations of the School, including budget management and on-campus clinics.
  • Engage in teaching as schedule permits and hold office hours for students.
  • Maintain involvement in research and scholarly activities, generating publications and presentations.
  • Contribute to University committees and participate in faculty meetings and student orientations.

Requirements

  • Master's Degree or higher in Dental Hygiene, Education, Health Science or related field; Doctorate preferred.
  • Graduate of a dental hygiene program accredited by the Commission on Dental Accreditation.
  • Current license or eligibility for licensure to practice dental hygiene in Massachusetts.
  • Minimum of 5 years of teaching experience in Dental Hygiene at the college/university level.
  • Commitment to undergraduate, graduate and/or professional education and student success.
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and interact effectively with diverse groups.
  • Record of scholarly activities commensurate with an academic appointment.
  • Evidence of teaching excellence and experience with accreditation processes.
  • Experience with multidisciplinary faculty and diverse student constituencies.

Nice-to-haves

  • Interprofessional Practice and Education experience or experience in developing collaborative practice.
  • Experience teaching in a remote setting using virtual platforms.
