About the position

As a Decision Science Analyst II at USAA, you will play a crucial role in providing decision support across various business areas. This position involves applying mathematical and statistical techniques to analyze data, draw conclusions, and make actionable recommendations that align with business objectives. You will be responsible for model implementation, performance monitoring, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to enhance fraud prevention and detection strategies.

Responsibilities

  • Provide decision support for business areas across the enterprise.
  • Apply mathematical and statistical techniques to draw conclusions and make recommendations.
  • Gather, manipulate, and synthesize data to inform strategies.
  • Assess model implementation and monitor model performance across the model lifecycle.
  • Use programming languages like SAS and Python for exploratory data analysis and reporting.
  • Develop and maintain model performance visualizations and dashboards using Tableau.
  • Support new model deployment efforts in collaboration with various teams.
  • Produce model documentation and support model implementation testing processes.
  • Facilitate model validations and deliver insights on model performance to users.
  • Maintain the code base for monitoring model performance and ensure reporting accuracy.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a quantitative analytics field or 4 years of related experience in statistics or quantitative analytics.
  • 2 years of experience in data/analytics or functional business experience in the relevant industry.
  • Intermediate knowledge of mathematical and statistical techniques for decision-making.
  • Experience with data analysis tools, data visualization, and SQL, SAS, or other analysis software.

Nice-to-haves

  • US military experience or a military spouse/domestic partner.
  • Graduate degree in a quantitative subject area.
  • 1+ years of experience with SQL, HiveQL, and NoSQL.
  • 1+ years of experience with SAS and Python for statistical programming.
  • 1+ years of experience using Tableau for data visualization.
  • Experience in model validation and governance.
  • Experience working with fraud and financial crimes models.
