About the position

As a Decision Science Analyst II at USAA, you will play a crucial role in providing decision support across various business areas by applying mathematical and statistical techniques. Your work will involve gathering and synthesizing data to make actionable recommendations that drive business objectives and motivate change. This position requires a blend of analytical skills and technical knowledge to assess model performance and support model deployment efforts, ultimately contributing to the financial security of military members and their families.

Responsibilities

• Apply creative analytical techniques to assess model implementation and monitor model performance across the model lifecycle.
• Use programming languages such as SAS and Python for exploratory data analysis and automate standard analytical reporting.
• Support the development and maintenance of model performance visualizations and dashboards using Tableau.
• Produce Implementation Risk Review model documentation and support model implementation testing processes.
• Facilitate model validations and deliver insights to model users on performance, strengths, and weaknesses of the models.
• Maintain the code base necessary to monitor model performance and ensure reporting accuracy.
• Create written reports of ongoing model performance for leadership.
• Perform analytical reporting to track model value and health regarding loss mitigation and member experience.
• Review automated code jobs for completeness and accuracy.
• Conduct document and code reviews of teammates' work.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in a quantitative analytics field or 4 years of related experience in statistics, mathematics, or quantitative analytics.
• 2 years of experience in data/analytics or functional business experience in the respective industry.
• Intermediate knowledge of mathematical and statistical techniques for decision-making.
• Intermediate knowledge of data analysis tools, data visualization, and SQL, SAS, BI tools.

Nice-to-haves

• US military experience through military service or as a military spouse/domestic partner.
• Graduate degree in a quantitative subject area.
• 1+ years of experience using data querying tools like SQL, HiveQL, and NoSQL.
• 1+ years of experience using statistical programming languages like SAS and Python.
• 1+ years of experience using Tableau for data visualization.
• Experience in model validation and/or model governance.
• Experience working with fraud and financial crimes models.
