About the position

The Decision Science Analyst Senior for Fraud at USAA plays a crucial role in providing decision support across the enterprise by applying advanced mathematical and statistical techniques. This position focuses on gathering, manipulating, and synthesizing data to draw actionable insights and recommendations that align with business objectives, particularly in the context of fraud and financial crimes. The analyst will also develop and maintain model performance visualizations and dashboards to assist leadership in monitoring model risk and performance.

Responsibilities

  • Develop creative analytical techniques to assess model implementation and monitor model performance across the model lifecycle.
  • Lead new model deployment efforts in collaboration with Technology, Data Science teams, and other partners.
  • Produce Implementation Risk Review model documentation and support model implementation testing processes.
  • Facilitate model validations and deliver insights on model performance to users.
  • Develop code to monitor model performance over time and ensure accuracy of reporting metrics.
  • Create written reports on ongoing model performance for leadership.
  • Track the value and health of models regarding loss mitigation and member experience.
  • Review automated code jobs for completeness and accuracy.
  • Develop performance and model health dashboard visualizations for leadership.
  • Conduct document and code reviews of teammates' work.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a quantitative analytics field or 4 years of related experience in statistics, mathematics, or quantitative analytics.
  • 6 years of data & analytics experience or a combination of 4 years of data & analytics experience and 2 years of progressive functional business experience.
  • Advanced skills in mathematical and statistical techniques for decision-making.
  • Knowledge of data analysis tools, data visualization, and SQL, SAS, BI tools.
  • Experience with new and emerging data sets and data wrangling.

Nice-to-haves

  • US military experience or a military spouse/domestic partner.
  • Graduate degree in a quantitative subject area.
  • 4+ years of experience with data querying tools like SQL, HiveQL, and NoSQL.
  • 4+ years of experience with statistical programming languages like SAS and Python.
  • 4+ years of experience using Tableau for data visualization.
  • Experience in model validation and/or model governance.
