About the position

The Decision Support Analyst II plays a crucial role in financial analysis within the healthcare sector, utilizing intermediate to expert knowledge of financial decision support competencies. This position involves collaborating with clinical leaders to provide operational finance support, including forecasting, budgeting, and reporting, to drive informed business decisions and enhance organizational performance.

Responsibilities

  • Serves as an operational partner to clinical leaders for all decision support activities including forecast, budget, month end, productivity, benchmark, and reimbursement reporting.
  • Facilitates the annual budget process with areas of responsibility.
  • Conducts month end reporting; investigates financial data to extract cause and effect for variances identified in month end reporting and makes recommendations to leaders.
  • Audits gross charging to identify anomalies on a per statistic basis.
  • May take part in strategic service line financial performance evaluations.
  • Evaluates ROI for strategic capital acquisitions as needed.
  • Completes Ad-Hoc reports as required under minimal supervision.
  • Supports teammates in the event of routine or unexpected absences.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field required; 4 years' healthcare data analytics experience may be accepted in lieu of degree.
  • Minimum 3 years' decision support, cost accounting, or finance/accounting experience required in addition to education requirement; experience in healthcare field preferred.
  • Requires an analytical mind, strong problem-solving skills, critical thinking, inquisitive questioning, and ability to integrate data from multiple sources.
  • Ability to query and organize data from various financial and clinical systems.
  • Expert proficiency in computer software applications (i.e. Microsoft Office) and database applications required.
  • Intermediate knowledge of the healthcare industry (hospital, clinic, ambulatory, etc).
  • Excellent communication skills to include written and oral required.
