About the position

The Dedicated Final Mile Fleet Manager at TMC Transportation is responsible for managing dedicated drivers to meet specific operational goals, including pick-up and delivery requirements, maximizing revenue, and ensuring driver productivity. This role emphasizes coaching, leadership, and maintaining an excellent safety record while focusing on driver retention and performance management.

Responsibilities

  • Accept orders, optimize routes, and plan delivery schedules maximizing productivity and efficiency
  • Dispatch loads to the drivers, providing load information, delivery requirements, and routing
  • Arrange for additional labor for deliveries that require it
  • Track drivers through their daily delivery schedule to ensure on-time delivery expectations are met
  • Communicate with drivers and customers to resolve any delivery issues that may arise
  • Notify customers of issues or changes that might impact expectations or load assignments
  • Promote safety throughout operations, ensuring compliance with drivers' hours of availability
  • Focus on driver retention by understanding driver requirements and monitoring performance
  • Identify, track, and resolve performance issues through evaluations and meetings
  • Resolve driver conflicts and requests regarding home time, pay, equipment, and load assignments
  • Maintain and submit driver payroll records weekly
  • Enforce company policies and maintain records of driver performance and productivity
  • Track equipment maintenance requirements and schedule necessary work
  • Involve in the training process for drivers on operational details and equipment usage.

Requirements

  • Four-year degree in Transportation and Logistics or relevant experience in transportation or related field
  • Fluent in computer applications and proficient in keyboard skills
  • Ability to function in a fast-paced work environment and tolerate stress
  • Strong planning, organization, attention to detail, and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, including good listening skills
  • Courteous yet assertive telephone personality.
