About the position

TMC Transportation is seeking a Dedicated Final Mile Fleet Manager to join our team in Stonecrest, Georgia. The Dedicated Final Mile Fleet Manager will play a crucial role in managing dedicated drivers and ensuring that specific operational goals are met. This position requires a strong focus on coaching and leadership to maximize driver productivity, revenue, and safety while retaining top talent within the fleet. In this role, the Fleet Manager will be responsible for accepting orders, optimizing routes, and planning delivery schedules to maximize productivity and efficiency. The manager will dispatch loads to drivers, ensuring they have all necessary information regarding delivery requirements and routing. Effective communication with both drivers and customers is essential to resolve any delivery issues that may arise, and the manager will need to notify customers of any changes that could impact their expectations. Safety is a top priority, and the Fleet Manager will promote safe practices throughout operations, ensuring compliance with drivers' hours of availability. Retaining drivers is another key responsibility, which involves understanding their needs and preferences, monitoring performance, and keeping them informed and motivated. The manager will also conduct driver evaluations, resolve conflicts, and maintain accurate payroll records. Additionally, the Fleet Manager will track equipment maintenance requirements and oversee the training process for drivers, ensuring they are well-versed in all operational details, including the proper use of moffett forklifts. Other duties may be assigned as necessary.

Responsibilities

  • Accept orders, optimize routes, and plan delivery schedules maximizing productivity and efficiency
  • Dispatch loads to the drivers, issuing load information, delivery requirements, and routing
  • Arrange for additional labor for deliveries that require it
  • Track drivers through their daily delivery schedule to ensure on-time delivery expectations are met
  • Communicate with drivers and customers quickly and effectively to resolve delivery issues
  • Notify customers of issues or changes that might impact expectations or affect load assignments
  • Promote safety throughout all areas of operations, including dispatching loads in accordance with drivers' hours of availability
  • Focus on driver retention by understanding driver requirements/preferences and monitoring performance
  • Identify, track, and resolve performance issues by conducting driver evaluations and meetings
  • Resolve driver conflicts, problems, and requests regarding home time, pay, equipment, and load assignments
  • Maintain and submit driver payroll records weekly
  • Ensure awareness of and enforce company policies
  • Maintain records pertaining to driver performance and productivity
  • Track equipment maintenance requirements and schedule necessary work
  • Involvement in the training process for drivers, ensuring they are educated on all operational details

Requirements

  • Four-year degree, preferably in Transportation and Logistics, and/or relevant experience in transportation or related field
  • Fluent in computer applications and keyboard proficiency
  • Ability to function in a fast-paced work environment and tolerate stress
  • Ability to plan, organize, be attentive to detail, and possess strong problem-solving skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, including good listening skills
  • Possess a courteous, yet assertive telephone personality
