About the position

The OSP Back-up Lead is responsible for providing leadership within the Deer Creek Shipping/OSP department, promoting teamwork, continuous improvement, and ensuring that quality, safety, and production requirements are met. This role requires active participation in departmental activities and the ability to work with limited supervision while maintaining a harassment-free environment.

Responsibilities

  • Promote safety first for all employees
  • Participate in all 6s and continuous improvement activities/events
  • Maintain daily checklist sign-offs
  • Communicate effectively, both written and verbal
  • Prioritize work and shift setup according to production requirements
  • Facilitate department scheduling
  • Train employees and ensure adherence to work instructions
  • Ensure employees have necessary tools to complete tasks
  • Maintain department supplies inventory
  • Promote a harassment-free environment
  • Work well under pressure with good organization and people skills
  • Adjust shifts as necessary for business purposes
  • Promote process control and determine corrective actions when needed
  • Act as maintenance point of contact for onsite vendors
  • Track and reduce downtime of equipment
  • Assist in tracking and maintaining maintenance tools
  • Facilitate and communicate on preventative maintenance program adjustments
  • Handle first line performance issues and notify supervision when further action is required
  • Notify appropriate parties when down production equipment may affect throughput

Requirements

  • Actively working in Department IGT Shipping/OSP (Dept. 287)
  • Currently a member of IGT Shipping/OSP
  • Less than 4 unexcused absences
  • Not on a written step 2 or higher within the last 12 months
  • Minimum of one year in current role
  • Knowledge in the use of MS Word and MS Excel
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Good organization and people skills

Nice-to-haves

  • Previous experience as a group, team, or area leader
  • Understanding of Deer Creek system requirements
  • Ability to coordinate/plan long- and short-term production goals
  • Demonstrated history of accurate documentation
  • Demonstrated history of professional conduct with customers (Outside Vendors and PCC Employees)
