About the position

The Industrial Engineer at Spirit AeroSystems is responsible for analyzing and designing operations and workflows to enhance efficiency in production facilities. This role involves optimizing product flow, establishing training programs, and conducting studies related to cost control and inventory management. The position requires collaboration with facilities engineers and the development of time standards for operations.

Responsibilities

  • Analyzes and designs sequence of operations and workflow to improve efficiencies in plant and production facilities and equipment layouts.
  • Establishes methods for maximum utilization of production facilities and personnel and optimization of product flow.
  • Establishes or assists in establishing accident prevention measures and manages training programs for personnel concerning all phases of production operations.
  • Conducts studies pertaining to cost control, cost reduction, inventory control, and production record systems, developing and implementing optimized product flow based on these studies.
  • Assists facilities engineers in the planning and design of facilities.
  • Develops and provides time standards to the shop floor as well as standard work for operations and processes.
  • Utilizes analytical skills for capacity analysis, tool and equipment utilization, and line balancing.
  • Performs trend analysis of shop performance measures to identify opportunities for improvement.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering from an ABET-accredited engineering program.
  • 2-5+ years of related experience with a Bachelor's Degree or 1-4+ years of related experience with a Master's Degree.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Security Clearance.
  • Ability to secure Program Access approval.

Nice-to-haves

  • Active DoD Security Clearance.
  • Experience in an Aircraft or Aerospace Manufacturing environment.
  • Knowledge of IE Tools used in production (i.e. capacity analysis, facility layout, and production improvements).
  • Understanding of a manufacturing production atmosphere.
  • Experience utilizing production metrics to make informed decisions and drive results.
  • Experience using problem-solving skills and analytical abilities to develop innovative and expedient solutions to fabrication problems.
  • Experience working in a team environment and interacting with multiple disciplines and levels of management.
