About the position

The Defense Systems Engineer (RF Specialist) role at Texas Instruments involves working within the Aerospace & Defense Systems team to address complex technology design challenges in high-reliability products for space, avionics, and defense electronics. The position focuses on customer collaboration, systems engineering, and circuit design, with an emphasis on RF technologies and solutions for mission-critical applications.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with customers and Field Application Engineers (FAEs) to identify top and scaling opportunities in focus areas.
  • Establish effective working relationships with key stakeholders, synchronizing project engagement to target growth in top markets.
  • Co-develop competitive solutions with customer engineers and FAEs, demonstrating adaptability to change.
  • Execute actions driven by customer opportunities with urgency and technical proficiency.
  • Drive new design wins for new and existing products.
  • Create engaging training and technical content to support mission success.
  • Resolve customer problems by interfacing across different functional groups.
  • Teach and influence others effectively.
  • Apply systems-level thinking to execute growth strategies targeting specific markets.
  • Analyze key end-equipments to identify future trends and opportunities for improvement.
  • Conduct research to understand intricacies of target end-equipment and subsystems.
  • Assist with generating the revenue plan for the organization.
  • Transform design requirements into system architecture and evaluate options for solutions.
  • Coordinate with stakeholders to establish support strategies and timelines for design solutions.
  • Track progress and lead interactions related to collaborative technical tasks.
  • Communicate complex technical concepts effectively to a broad audience.

Requirements

  • Master's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
  • 10 years of relevant experience in the industry.
  • Strong understanding of analog/mixed-signal ICs and their applications.
  • Experience in promoting/marketing ICs and driving design wins through system solutions.
  • Familiarity with RF transceiver architectures and signal chain analysis.
  • Deep understanding of key RF performance metrics (NF, SFDR, IP2, IP3, HD2, HD3).
  • Exceptional customer-facing skills.
  • Expertise with RF lab equipment (spectrum analyzer, RF/microwave signal generator).
  • Experience in system-level circuit design and modeling with EDA tools, SPICE, and Matlab.

Nice-to-haves

  • 5 years of industry experience at an aerospace & defense manufacturer.
  • Expertise in RF signal chain for radar, electronic warfare, and software-defined radio communications.
  • Ability to distill complex topics for a range of audiences from technical to executive level.
