About the position

The DegreeWorks Administrator (IT Sr Associate 2) is responsible for supporting and maintaining the DegreeWorks systems at CUNY, ensuring data integrity and security while providing user support to campus coordinators. This role involves performing system upgrades, collaborating with vendors, and ensuring the effective utilization of the DegreeWorks system to enhance the University's student advisement solutions. The position requires a high level of technical expertise and the ability to work collaboratively with various IT teams to support the University's IT infrastructure.

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical support for DegreeWorks and related systems, ensuring smooth operation for students, faculty, and staff.
  • Implement and track changes to applications in alignment with CIS's change management procedures.
  • Support the generation and maintenance of student data reports, ensuring accuracy and timely availability.
  • Serve as the point of contact with vendors for system enhancements and integration with existing systems.
  • Coordinate with database administrators and application developers to support planned changes and enhancements.
  • Participate in planning and executing migrations from testing to production environments.
  • Contribute to the development and monitoring of project plans and documentation in collaboration with the Project Management Office.
  • Perform special ad hoc requests and initiatives as needed.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma, G.E.D., or equivalent.
  • Ten years of full-time work experience in a computer or technology-related position, or an Associate's degree plus eight years of experience, or a Bachelor's degree plus six years of experience.
  • Demonstrated English Language proficiency.
  • A valid Motor Vehicle Driver's license in New York State may be required.

Nice-to-haves

  • Knowledge of Ellucian's DegreeWorks and integrated information systems.
  • Expertise in vendor software installation and application support.
  • Proficiency in HTML, JavaScript, CSS, Oracle SQL, Unix/Linux shell scripting, and Java development.
  • Experience with Middleware technologies such as Apache Tomcat and IBM WebSphere.
  • Skilled in creating and troubleshooting reports using tools like Crystal Reports.
  • Strong background in UNIX/Linux and Microsoft Windows Server operating systems.
  • Understanding of web services technologies, including XML, REST API, and SOAP protocols.
  • Ability to translate business and technical requirements into detailed system design specifications.
  • Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong communication skills to convey technical concepts to diverse audiences.
