About the position

The DEI Program Manager at Mortenson will lead diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives for a large project or operating group. This role involves collaborating with various teams to implement DEI strategies, engage stakeholders, and foster an inclusive culture within the organization. The position requires a proactive approach to drive DEI efforts and support the company's commitment to creating a positive impact in the built environment.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as lead for DEI initiatives across key project sites and engage in person with key stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with the VP of DEI, DEI Manager, Campus Leadership, and other stakeholders to establish a DEI strategy, roadmap, and implementation plan.
  • Create and implement programs to shape a more inclusive and equitable culture on project sites.
  • Build alliances with diverse-owned businesses for project scope allocation.
  • Participate in stakeholder groups to develop DEI action plans to improve the industry.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to develop a Learning and Development plan related to DEI.
  • Support and help lead strategy and implementation of Business Resource groups on large projects.
  • Develop and execute a strategy to promote DEI awareness with trade partners and labor unions.
  • Oversee and assist with tracking and reporting of DEI statistics for projects.
  • Assist in planning and executing DEI events on projects.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 3 years of DEI related experience required.
  • HR experience preferred (e.g. Talent acquisition, Talent Management, Learning and Development).
  • Knowledge of DEI best practices, strategies, and implementation learnings.
  • Project Management Skills - Ability to develop a detailed plan, stay organized, and get things done.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills to drive alignment and teamwork.
  • Strategic thinking with the ability to organize and prioritize multiple programs and stakeholders.
  • Positive attitude and professional customer service skills.
  • Active listening skills and effective communication, openness to diverse input and feedback.
  • Empathy and emotional intelligence.
