About the position

Our client, a medical association in Washington, DC, is seeking a temporary DEI Program Specialist to join their busy, growing team. This role is essential in driving the organization's Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) strategy and fostering a culture of inclusivity and equity. The DEI Program Specialist will oversee the development and daily administration of internal staff groups, including the Employee Resource Group (ERG) program and DEI Council. This includes handling logistics for meetings, presentations, and events, which involves the preparation of materials and meeting minutes. The specialist will also assist with budget development, monitoring, and managing expenditures for staff groups, ensuring that all financial aspects are in line with the organization's goals. In addition to administrative duties, the DEI Program Specialist will design and deliver learning opportunities focused on DEI-related topics, leadership development, and team building. This position is a 9-month contract with the potential to extend, offering a pay range of $33/hr-$38/hr depending on experience. The ideal candidate will have a passion for DEI, a track record of successful program management, and strong interpersonal skills, making them a key player in the organization's efforts to enhance diversity and inclusion within the workplace.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with budget development, monitoring, and managing expenditures for staff groups.

Requirements

  • Minimum of five years of relevant experience in DEI, organizational development, or a related field.
  • Experience building out and developing programs and learning initiatives within the non-profit space is preferred.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects with tight deadlines.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, including facilitation and presentation abilities.
