About the position

The Team Leader at Del Taco plays a crucial role in supporting the Restaurant Manager to create an exceptional guest experience while empowering team members. This position involves fostering a positive and rewarding culture within the restaurant, overseeing daily operations, and ensuring compliance with company policies and local regulations. Team Leaders are responsible for training and developing future leaders, managing shifts, and maintaining high standards of quality and service.

Responsibilities

  • Support the Restaurant Manager in supervising the team to achieve effective results in quality, guest service, food cost, labor cost, safety, security, cleanliness, and product preparation.
  • Run shifts and assist the Restaurant Manager in executing all company policies, procedures, programs, and systems.
  • Supervise 1 to 7 team members and ensure objectives are met while adhering to company guidelines.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local laws and ethical business practices during shifts.
  • Assist the Restaurant Manager in creating and maintaining an 'Employer of Choice' environment.
  • Provide leadership, direction, training, and development to the restaurant team.
  • Support staffing decisions, including recommending interviews and administering disciplinary actions as needed.
  • Deliver effective results in quality, guest service, safety, security, cleanliness, and product preparation.
  • Exhibit a cheerful and helpful manner while interacting with guests.
  • Demonstrate a complete understanding of menu items and accurately explain them to guests.
  • Use Point of Sale system/cash register to record orders and compute order amounts, collecting payment from guests.
  • Adhere to proper food handling, safety, and sanitation standards.
  • Make recommendations to enhance restaurant operations.
  • Maintain professional appearance and grooming standards.

Requirements

  • 1-2 years of experience in a quick service restaurant environment with a demonstrated ability to ensure guest satisfaction and train staff.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks with effective follow-through.
  • Demonstrated ability to motivate and lead staff to achieve organizational goals.
  • General knowledge of computers, POS systems, and various electronic devices.
  • Ability to perform basic business math skills and cash handling.
  • Excellent organizational skills for keeping detailed records, reports, and logs.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing.
  • Open availability to work any shifts as needed.

Nice-to-haves

  • Food Handlers certification may be required.
  • Experience in a supervisory or leadership role in a guest service industry is preferred.
