About the position

The Deli Clerk position at Cosentino's Price Chopper is a part-time role focused on assisting customers by providing high-quality deli products and excellent service. The clerk will be responsible for food preparation, inventory management, and maintaining cleanliness in the deli area, all while adhering to health and safety regulations.

Responsibilities

• Efficiently and accurately prepare, package and label products for sale to customers.
• Know and practice appropriate portion control in deli production and service.
• Practice effective inventory management by counting and verifying merchandise against invoices and inspecting deliveries for shortages, damages, and quality.
• Know and practice rotation procedures to ensure product dates are properly monitored.
• Prepare and cook all deli hot foods, and set up the hot case for presentation to customers.
• Prepare all cold deli items.
• Ensure all coolers, freezers, and preparation areas are clean and set up in advance for deliveries.
• Quickly unload incoming shipments and neatly stock them in designated areas without damaging merchandise.
• Meet or exceed productivity standards to produce desired team and individual results.
• Be familiar with the items in your department to accurately and courteously answer customer questions.
• Resolve customer complaints professionally and recognize when to involve store management.
• Implement Cosentino's Customer Service Standards.
• Operate, clean, and maintain all equipment safely and competently.
• Comply with health regulations, sanitation guidelines, and safety procedures for the department and store.
• Demonstrate strong verbal and interpersonal skills for positive customer and peer interactions.
• Demonstrate basic math and reading skills required for the position.

Requirements

• A food handling permit must be obtained within the first 14 days of employment.
• Completion of ongoing training and development as listed on the Cosentino's Learning Plan.
• A high school diploma or equivalent is preferred.
