About the position

The Deli Lead at Buehler's Fresh Foods is a pivotal role within the Food Service Operations, responsible for managing the deli and ensuring exceptional customer experiences. This position collaborates closely with the Food Service Manager and the deli team to uphold the company's commitment to quality and service excellence. The Deli Lead plays a crucial role in staff supervision, product management, and customer interaction, contributing to the overall goal of becoming the best in food service and providing the freshest foods.

Responsibilities

• Supervise staff to ensure exceptional customer service, including greeting customers and answering questions.
• Maintain high standards for freshness and sanitation in the deli.
• Provide knowledge to staff to assist customers in making informed product-related decisions.
• Responsible for employee hiring, onboarding, training, and retention.
• Manage employee recognition and relations.
• Fill, maintain, and rotate products and displays in the deli.
• Support restaurant, catering, and specialty areas with special orders and party trays.
• Handle product ordering, storage, and inventory management.
• Operate commercial food service equipment such as slicers.

Requirements

• Must be at least 18 years of age.
• Ability to stand, reach, lift, bend, kneel, stoop, climb, push, and pull items weighing up to 50 lbs, and occasionally 80 lbs.
• Manual dexterity and auditory/visual skills to follow instructions and perform tasks.
• Ability to perform simple math problems.
• Experience working in a deli/kitchen environment with exposure to heat, steam, fire, and noise.

• Previous Deli Lead experience or familiarity with deli operations.
