About the position

The Deli Lead position at SpartanNash is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the deli department in a retail store. This role involves managing staff, ensuring product quality and freshness, maintaining inventory, and meeting company goals and performance indicators. The Deli Lead will support the department manager in various tasks, including staffing, training, and performance management, while also ensuring compliance with food safety and operational guidelines.

Responsibilities

• Lead day-to-day activities of the deli department operations.
• Order and maintain inventory while ensuring product freshness and quality.
• Review and validate received orders for quality and condition.
• Manage a team to complete stocking, production, and additional tasks.
• Maintain familiarity with all products in the department and store.
• Communicate and execute the weekly and period Flight Plan to company expectations.
• Support the department manager in scheduling, labor control, and payroll expense management.
• Implement company core values and competencies in daily operations.
• Attend and participate in daily huddles and manager meetings.
• Maintain a clean and well-stocked department following safety guidelines.

Requirements

• High School Graduate or Equivalent (GED) required.
• 0-2 years of retail experience preferred.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Good organization, prioritization, and decision-making skills.
• Strong leadership abilities in a hands-on environment.
• Good knowledge of retail store operations and management systems.
• Proficient in Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
• Ability to communicate in Spanish is highly desirable.
