About the position

The Deli Manager Trainee is responsible for managing retail operations within the deli department, ensuring high standards of service, quality, and safety. This role involves building relationships with associates and customers, promoting a positive work culture, and maintaining the department's appearance and operational standards. The trainee will also be involved in hiring, training, and developing staff while achieving departmental financial objectives.

Responsibilities

• Manage retail operations for the assigned deli department.
• Build associate and customer relations to promote a strong culture.
• Ensure store conditions involving appearance, security, safety, and food safety are maintained.
• Hire, train, and develop associates to meet department needs.
• Supervise performance of all assigned department associates.
• Role model outstanding friendly customer service.
• Maintain accurate records of production, shrink, sales, and inventory.
• Conduct performance appraisals on all department associates according to company standards.
• Ensure compliance with company sanitation, safety, and food safety standards.
• Assist in effectively ordering and maintaining inventory control.

Requirements

• Department Manager or equivalent experience required.
• College degree or equivalent preferred.
• Must be accredited as a Certified Food Safety Manager or complete training within 90 days of employment.
• Strong understanding of store operations and merchandising techniques.
• Excellent interpersonal, customer service, and communication skills.
