About the position

The Deli Sales Associate at Weis Markets is responsible for providing excellent customer service in the deli department, ensuring that the service areas are well-stocked and appealing. This entry-level position involves preparing ready-to-eat foods, operating slicing equipment, and maintaining cleanliness and safety standards in the deli area. The associate will also assist with cash register operations and inventory control, contributing to a positive shopping experience for customers.

Responsibilities

• Keep Deli service areas well stocked and appealing to meet customer demands.
• Smile and greet customers, answer questions, and resolve concerns promptly.
• Ensure freshness and condition of merchandise in display cases, including proper pricing and signage.
• Properly rotate products and handle spoiled or damaged items according to company standards.
• Operate slicing equipment to provide meats and cheeses based on customer preferences.
• Package items and apply stickers showing price, weight, and date.
• Prepare ready-to-eat foods to individual customer orders.
• Prepare platters of sliced meats, cheeses, and vegetable trays, adhering to safety policies.
• May operate cash register and follow money handling procedures to avoid cash discrepancies.
• Maintain general sanitation in the department, following cleaning schedules and health guidelines.
• Assist in inventory control through time and temperature practices.
• Cooperate with co-workers and superiors to ensure smooth department function.

Requirements

• Completed or working towards a High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED).
• No prior experience required.
