About the position

The Deli Sales Associate at Weis Markets is responsible for providing excellent customer service in the deli department, ensuring that the service areas are well-stocked and appealing, and preparing food items according to customer preferences. This role emphasizes teamwork, adherence to safety and sanitation standards, and effective communication with customers and co-workers.

Responsibilities

• Keep Deli service areas well stocked and appealing to meet customer demands.
• Greet customers, answer questions, and resolve concerns in a polite and professional manner.
• Ensure freshness and condition of merchandise in display cases, including proper pricing and signage.
• Operate slicing equipment to provide meats and cheeses based on customer preferences.
• Package items and apply stickers showing price, weight, and date.
• Prepare ready-to-eat foods to individual customer orders and platters of sliced meats, cheeses, and vegetable trays.
• Adhere to company recipes and safety policies when preparing food items.
• Operate cash register and follow policies for money handling to avoid cash discrepancies.
• Maintain general sanitation in the department, following cleaning schedules and health guidelines.
• Assist in inventory control and minimize losses by following proper handling practices.
• Assist with receiving and storing deliveries if properly trained.
• Cooperate with co-workers and superiors to ensure smooth department function.
• Utilize all company-provided Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
• Assist in other departments as needed.

Requirements

• Completed or working towards a High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED).
• No prior experience required.
