About the position

The Deli Sales position at Yoke's Fresh Market is designed to provide a pleasant and efficient deli experience for guests. The role emphasizes exceptional customer service, product knowledge, and active engagement with customers to promote sales and enhance the overall shopping experience. Associates are expected to uphold the company's core values and contribute positively to the community while ensuring compliance with safety and food handling regulations.

Responsibilities

• Provide exceptional customer service by greeting guests and informing them of special features and product information.
• Promote sales through active discussions with guests, offering product recommendations and discussing current promotions.
• Prepare food for daily business as assigned, including making assorted coffee drinks and portioning salads and entrees.
• Operate deli equipment safely and correctly, including slicers, scales, and cash registers.
• Communicate and complete guests' special order requests accurately and timely.
• Mentor new associates and create a positive learning environment.
• Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations regarding food safety and sanitation.
• Participate in the Deli Department's accident reduction plan.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED; or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Valid State Food Handlers Permit and a valid Driver's License or State I.D. Card.
• Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions and communicate effectively with guests and associates.
• Mathematical skills to perform calculations involving money and weight measurement.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience in a deli or food service environment.
• Knowledge of food safety regulations and practices.
