About the position
The Deli Team Member at Giant Eagle is responsible for ensuring that guests' needs are met while providing exceptional service in the deli department. This entry-level position requires teamwork and a commitment to maintaining safety and cleanliness in the workplace. Team Members will be trained to assist in various areas of the store, contributing to a positive shopping experience for customers.
Responsibilities
- Maintain safety as the top priority in all aspects of work for Team Members, guests, and products.
- Provide unparalleled guest service, striving to delight and surprise guests, vendors, and stakeholders.
- Cultivate a foodie culture by sharing excitement and passion for food with Team Members and guests.
- Demonstrate appropriate suggestive selling techniques actively.
- Provide active sampling opportunities when appropriate.
- Maintain cleanliness of equipment, tables, utensils, and floors to ensure safety and meet sanitation regulations.
- Stock cases by taking product from the delivery area and placing it in the proper location on the shelf.
- Service guests by answering questions promptly and with a smile.
- Order product as needed by scanning appropriate shelf tags or punching in numbers on the order machine.
- Follow proper procedures to ensure the store meets out-of-stock percentage goals.
- Add new items to shelves by moving existing items and displaying products appropriately and in adherence to safety standards.
Requirements
- 0 to 6 months of experience in a related field is preferred.
- Knowledge of food safety is desired.
- No high school diploma is required.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
- Must be at least 16 years of age.
