About the position
The Deli Team Member at Giant Eagle plays a crucial role in providing exceptional customer service and maintaining the quality of food products in the deli department. This entry-level position involves working collaboratively with a team to ensure customer satisfaction and uphold safety and sanitation standards. Team Members will engage with customers, assist in food preparation, and contribute to a positive shopping experience.
Responsibilities
- Maintain cleanliness of the department work area, equipment, tables, utensils, and floor to ensure safety and meet sanitation regulations.
- Provide exemplary customer service by greeting customers and ensuring their orders are filled to meet expectations.
- Answer customer questions and make suggestions to enhance their shopping experience.
- Provide products and services that meet the requirements of internal and external customers and abide by the Company's Statement of Values.
- Properly handle products and equipment in accordance with safety guidelines to ensure a safe shopping environment.
- Set up and replenish food cases according to Company standards and procedures, ensuring code dating procedures are followed.
- Accurately record special orders on prepared foods products to ensure customer satisfaction.
- Assist in maintaining coolers and freezers by unloading deliveries and ensuring efficiency.
- Follow proper procedures to meet out-of-stock percentage goals.
- Rotate and check code dates on products to ensure customer safety.
- Check in deliveries by comparing invoices to merchandise.
- Assist in other areas as required.
Requirements
- 0 to 6 months of experience in a similar role or food safety experience preferred.
- No high school diploma required, but at least 16 years of age is necessary.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
