About the position

The Delivery Driver (non-CDL) at American Tire Distributors is primarily responsible for the timely delivery of products to customers, ensuring customer satisfaction through on-time delivery and professional interaction. This role involves transporting products from the origin to the destination as assigned, unloading, and staging products at the customer's place of business. The driver is expected to maintain a professional representation of the company in all interactions with customers and through responsible driving, while also providing excellent customer service and building strong customer relationships. In addition to delivery responsibilities, the driver will assist in verifying all outgoing and incoming products for accuracy in terms of size, amount, and type. They will also be responsible for collecting payments from customers in acceptable monetary forms and ensuring that all administrative paperwork concerning delivery orders is available for inspection and accompanies the delivery. The driver must maintain records required for compliance with state and federal regulations, including driver's logs, records of fuel purchases, and mileage records. Adherence to all company safety policies and state and federal transportation regulations is mandatory. Occasionally, the driver may operate powered industrial vehicles such as forklift pallet jacks and order pickers. The position requires effective communication and collaboration with key partners, including the General Manager, Assistant General Manager, Operations Manager, and Warehouse Manager/Supervisor. The driver must be a strategic and innovative thinker, capable of identifying and acting on ideas that further the company's strategic goals and business plan. They should also be accountable for their results and handle all business matters ethically, in compliance with the company's Code of Conduct.

Responsibilities

  • Timely transportation of product from origin to destination as assigned
  • Assist in verification of all outgoing and incoming product for accuracy in terms of size, amount and type
  • Collect payments from customers in monetary form acceptable to Company
  • Ensure all administrative paperwork concerning delivery orders required to move with shipments is available for inspection and that appropriate paperwork accompanies delivery
  • Maintain professional representation of the Company in all interactions with customers and through responsible driving
  • Maintain records required for compliance with state and federal regulations, including driver's logs, records of fuel purchases, mileage records and other records required by law and Company policy
  • Abide by all Company safety policies and state and federal transportation regulations
  • Occasionally operate powered industrial vehicles (forklift pallet jacks, order pickers, etc.)

Requirements

  • Must be 21 years of age
  • Must possess valid Class 'C' driver's license, or such other proper license classification as required by the Department of Transportation in conjunction with vehicle weight
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Prior work experience sufficient to work under general supervision
