About the position
The Delivery Driver position within Pharmacy Services at Cardinal Health is a critical role responsible for the safe and efficient delivery of radiopharmaceuticals and oncology pharmaceuticals to medical care providers. This position requires the driver to coordinate deliveries in accordance with customer demand and the specific requirements of their assigned route. The driver will prepare doses for shipment, package medications, and ensure that all deliveries are made in compliance with safety standards and Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations. The role involves loading and unloading containers, performing necessary testing, and maintaining the delivery vehicle in proper working condition. Additionally, the driver will utilize a handheld tablet to scan customer orders for accuracy and obtain route stop information, ensuring that all packages are delivered promptly and accurately. The position operates on a schedule of 40 hours per week, with shifts that include early morning and weekend hours. The driver must be flexible to work different days and hours, including holidays and on-call rotations, based on business needs. This role not only requires strong driving skills but also emphasizes customer service and communication, as the driver will interact with various customer accounts during deliveries. The ability to lift heavy containers and drive in various weather conditions is essential, as is the capacity to perform minor roadside repairs and general facility cleaning as needed. Overall, this position plays a vital role in the pharmacy operations of Cardinal Health, ensuring that healthcare providers receive the necessary medications in a timely and safe manner.
Responsibilities
- Prepares and makes deliveries to customer accounts on assigned route using a company vehicle (non-CDL).
- Packages radiopharmaceutical medication for shipment, performs testing, and loads/unloads containers.
- Uses a handheld tablet to scan customer orders for accuracy, obtain route stop information, and navigation.
- Processes packages returned from customer locations.
- Maintains vehicles in proper working condition and may perform minor roadside repairs.
- Performs general facility cleaning and other duties as required.
Requirements
- High school diploma, GED or equivalent, or equivalent work experience, preferred.
- Must hold a valid driver's license and have a good driving record.
- Minimum of 18 years of age due to driving of company owned vehicle.
- Prior delivery driving experience a plus.
- Ability to lift containers weighing up to 85 pounds.
- Comfortable driving in all weather conditions during day or night hours.
- Ability to sit, stand, be mobile and operate a vehicle for extended periods of time.
- Strong customer service and communication skills.
- Ability to work weekends or be in a weekend rotation.
- Ability to work holidays or be in a holiday rotation.
- Ability to work on call or be in an on-call rotation.
- Flexibility to work various shifts or overtime as needed.
- Ability to use computers and tablets.
