About the position

The Delivery Driver Trainer is a pivotal role within our organization, responsible for the comprehensive training and development of driver trainees across the Market Unit. This position is designed to prepare trainees to obtain their Commercial Driver's License (CDL) and to enhance the skills of existing drivers who may require additional training to perform their duties effectively and safely. The Delivery Driver Trainer will collaborate closely with local distribution leaders to create and implement a training curriculum that not only promotes driver availability but also fosters the growth of essential driving skillsets. In this role, the Delivery Driver Trainer will coach and teach driver trainees through practical, on-the-road training, ensuring they acquire the necessary knowledge and skills to secure a Class A CDL. This includes fulfilling all Entry-Level Driver Trainer (ELDT) requirements, which encompass conducting theory and classroom training, providing behind-the-wheel instruction both in range and on public roads, and maintaining accurate documentation such as self-certifications and qualification records. The trainer will also be responsible for certifying trainees on the Training Provider Registry (TPR) to facilitate their CDL acquisition. Additionally, the Delivery Driver Trainer will identify, schedule, and evaluate trainee learning through various methods, including videos, computer-based training (CBT), and classroom instruction. They will create training materials, coordinate and conduct CDL training and testing programs, and perform evaluations on high-risk drivers. The trainer will also manage vehicle accident prevention strategies and maintain comprehensive records of each trainee's progress, including pass/fail rates and feedback from mentors and peers. Collaboration with the Learning Services team and the Risk and Safety group is essential to ensure that all safety materials and training assignments are completed effectively.
