About the position

Hajoca Corporation is seeking a Non-CDL Delivery Driver for their Cumberland, MD location. This role involves operating delivery trucks safely, loading and unloading merchandise, ensuring order accuracy, and providing excellent customer service. The position emphasizes safety, compliance with regulations, and maintaining positive relationships with customers and co-workers.

Responsibilities

  • Operate trucks safely and in compliance with Company rules, applicable laws, and regulations.
  • Load the truck with Hajoca merchandise for delivery and secure the load properly.
  • Understand shipping documents and ensure accurate directions to delivery destinations.
  • Review shipping documentation for order accuracy.
  • Unload merchandise and place it as directed by the receiving party, obtaining signatures as required.
  • Collect and secure payments for cash sale deliveries before releasing materials to customers.
  • Resolve shipping discrepancies with customers at delivery sites.
  • Load trucks with merchandise from various locations as needed.
  • Provide sales leads based on customer interactions during deliveries.
  • Inspect the truck and its components for safe operating conditions before departure.
  • Complete the Driver's Daily Vehicle Inspection Report as required.
  • Remove keys from the truck and store them appropriately at the end of the workday.
  • Complete required safety and compliance training programs as assigned.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned by management.

Requirements

  • Must be at least 21 years old.
  • Possess a valid driver's license.
  • Have a driving record that meets company criteria for Authorized Drivers.
  • Pass a Department of Transportation physical examination before starting work and every two years thereafter.
  • Knowledge of laws and regulations governing motor vehicle operation, especially commercial vehicles.
  • Ability to apply safety precautions in a warehouse and material handling environment.
  • Ability to build and maintain positive relationships with customers, vendors, and co-workers.
  • Ability to remain calm and function effectively in stressful situations.
  • Ability to learn to operate warehouse material-handling equipment and computer systems used in delivery processes.
  • Proficient in reading, writing, and understanding English.
  • Basic math skills including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.
