About the position
The Delivery Driver at Van Meter Inc. plays a vital role in ensuring the efficient and safe delivery of products and services while maintaining a professional representation of the company. This position focuses on building and maintaining positive customer relationships, ensuring product quality and accuracy, and supporting the sales process by identifying new business opportunities. The role also includes vehicle maintenance and compliance with DOT regulations.
Responsibilities
- Deliver products to local customers and obtain proof of delivery
- Provide excellent customer service
- Load and unload the vehicle in a safe and efficient manner
- Adhere to all company safety policies and initiatives
- Maintain a high standard of driving performance
- Maintain compliance with all Department of Transportation (DOT) requirements
- Communicate effectively with department leads and branches on all job-related issues
- Maintain vehicle and shipping and receiving dock cleanliness and order
- Follow processes and procedures in place for effective job performance
- Participate in company process improvement initiatives
- Provide coverage in areas in which staffing is low and work level is high
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED required
- Maintain a valid driver's license and clean driving record
- Ability to meet and maintain qualifications as required by the DOT
- Class B CDL may be required
- Six months previous delivery or courier experience preferred
- Demonstrated computer skills
- Ability to lift 100 lbs
Nice-to-haves
- Knowledge of Eclipse preferred
- Knowledge of handheld RF scanner is a plus
- Ability to operate lift truck equipment
- Ability to work a flexible shift
