About the position

At AdaptHealth, we are dedicated to providing full-service home medical equipment products and services that empower patients to live their best lives outside of the hospital and in the comfort of their homes. We are currently seeking passionate individuals to join our team as Medical Equipment Technicians. In this role, you will be responsible for ensuring the safe delivery, setup, and education of home medical equipment for our customers. This includes working in various settings such as patients' homes, long-term care facilities, and clinics, as deemed necessary to provide optimal service to our patients. As a Medical Equipment Technician, you will develop and maintain a comprehensive understanding of the current home medical equipment (HME) products and services offered by AdaptHealth, as well as all applicable governmental regulations. You will educate customers on the proper use and care of respiratory and HME equipment, ensuring they feel confident and informed about their medical devices. Your responsibilities will also include completing required documentation following equipment setup, delivery, or pickups, and assisting customers with equipment problems, especially under emergency conditions. In addition to these duties, you will be expected to process all orders accurately and in a timely manner, promote our services and products to referral sources in the community, and develop a basic understanding of reimbursement processes to ensure all necessary documentation is completed for appropriate equipment, products, and services. You will also assist in implementing quality improvement programs to meet company policies and maintain home oxygen systems through regular visits to customers. Your role will require you to safely drive and maintain a company vehicle, perform patient assessments, and conduct routine preventative maintenance and simple repairs on equipment as needed. You will be responsible for reporting any equipment hazards or product incidents in accordance with company policies and procedures, and you will need to adhere to all safety protocols, including the use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and infection control measures. Maintaining patient confidentiality and compliance with HIPAA guidelines is paramount in this position. You will also be required to complete assigned compliance training and other educational programs as necessary.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain working knowledge of current HME products and services offered by the company and all applicable governmental regulations.
  • Comply with all applicable company policies and procedures.
  • Educate customers in proper use and care of respiratory and HME equipment in a home setting.
  • Complete required documentation following equipment setup, delivery or pickups as required.
  • Assist with customer equipment problems under emergency conditions.
  • Process all orders in a timely, accurate manner.
  • Promote services and products to referral sources in the community as appropriate.
  • Develop basic reimbursement knowledge and completely document all information necessary to ensure reimbursement for all appropriate equipment, products, and services.
  • Assist with implementation of quality improvement program to meet company policies.
  • Maintain home oxygen systems through regularly scheduled visits to customers.
  • Safely drive and maintain company vehicle.
  • Perform patient assessment and re-assessment for patient care.
  • Perform routine preventative maintenance and simple repairs on equipment as required in accordance with company policies.
  • Report equipment hazards and/or product incidents as required in accordance with company policies and procedures.
  • Assume on-call responsibilities during non-business hours in accordance with company policy.
  • Retain knowledge of and consistently adhere to procedures for the use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), infection control and hazardous materials handling.
  • Maintain patient confidentiality and function within the guidelines of HIPAA.
  • Complete assigned compliance training and other educational programs as required.
  • Maintain compliance with AdaptHealth's Compliance Program.
  • Responsible for cleaning equipment when assigned by supervisor or downtime allows, following the Branch Maintenance and Cleaning Guidelines.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalency.
  • Entry level sales, customer service background essential.
  • One (1) year of Military, delivery driver with sales component or health care technician experience would be considered related experience and preferred.
  • Senior level requires two (2) years of work-related experience and one (1) year of exact job experience.
  • Valid and unrestricted driver's license in the state of residence.
