About the position

The Delkor Operator is responsible for operating both delkor lines, setting equipment parameters, and performing various product quality inspections. The employee will manage the day-to-day operation and upkeep of the delkor and case coder. Additionally, the operator will assist in training all operators and managing breaks. Effective communication with the production supervisor, production line lead, filler operator, and QC personnel is essential. The operator will support the review, understanding, and compliance of all programs, policies, and procedures contained in the Food Safety and Quality Management System.

Responsibilities

  • Follows approved procedures for processing quality margarine into appropriate packaging, ensuring quality and conformity of filled or packaged products to standards.
  • Adjusts machine components and machine tension and pressure according to size of packaging or processing temperature of product.
  • Operates machine that packages product, removes finished packaged items from machine, and separates rejected items.
  • Stops or resets machines when malfunctions occur, clears machine jams, and documents and reports malfunctions to a supervisor or lead.
  • Completes sanitation of the process equipment, inspects and removes defective products and packaging material.
  • Cleans and removes damaged or inferior materials from the line to prepare finished products for the next production run.
  • Inspects all equipment on the line at the end of production run or last shift and documents findings.
  • Coordinates change-over with Operator, maintenance, and Supply.
  • Ensures GMP compliance of all line employees and all associated areas of the packing room.
  • Secures finished packaged items by packing, gluing packaging, or attaching fastener.
  • Stocks and sorts product for packaging or filling machine operation, and replenishes packaging supplies.
  • Performs other duties as needed or assigned by supervisor.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Production line experience preferred.
  • Ability to function with minimal supervision and follow verbal and written instructions.
  • Team player with the ability to communicate effectively in English.
  • Ability to direct crew members to achieve efficiencies and maintain open communications.
  • Ability to count accurately and pay attention to detail.
  • Ability to read labels and codes on boxes and products.
