About the position

Aquarion Water Company, the largest investor-owned water utility in New England, is seeking a Demand Management / Utility Operations Coordinator to join its Eastern Division in Bridgeport, CT. This position plays a crucial role in supporting the Service and Watershed Environmental Management departments. The coordinator will be involved in various activities including demolitions, tap shutoff work, site inspections, and communications, as well as back office support related to service line leak follow-up, periodic meter changes, non-compliance work, and other related tasks. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of SAP, proficiency in Excel (including macros and pivot tables), and excellent organizational, written, and verbal communication skills. Attention to detail and strong customer service skills are essential, along with the ability to work effectively in a team environment. The role involves understanding utility rules and regulations applicable to service and distribution activities, communicating with customers and contractors regarding demolition and tap shutoff requirements, and conducting onsite inspections to ensure compliance with regulated procedures. The coordinator will also be responsible for scheduling planned work, responding to inquiries, tracking and following up on requests, and creating necessary documentation such as demolition/disconnection letters. Additionally, the position requires the completion of service line leak notifications in SAP, managing multiple MS inboxes, and supporting the Service and Distribution departments with various administrative duties. During peak periods, the coordinator will dedicate up to 50% of their time to demand management tasks, report to the Environmental Management Office, and participate in the Conservation Committee. Responsibilities also include coordinating the hiring, training, and supervision of summer interns, ensuring the automation of violation processes, and providing consumption data to monitor and track variances. The role is classified as non-exempt with a weekly salary range of $941.00 to $1,147.50, and requires working on-site at the Bridgeport and Easton offices from 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM, Monday through Friday.

Responsibilities

  • Support the Service and Watershed Environmental Management departments with demolitions and tap shutoff work.
  • Conduct onsite inspections to ensure compliance with regulated procedures.
  • Communicate with customers and contractors regarding demolition and tap shutoff requirements.
  • Schedule planned work for TSO and verify compliance.
  • Respond to customer and contractor inquiries on demolition.
  • Track and follow up on inquiries related to service line leaks and non-compliance tasks.
  • Create and present PowerPoint information sessions for Demolition and Conservation programs.
  • Complete Demolition, Conservation, and Service Line Leak Notifications in SAP.
  • Manage multiple MS inboxes and folders.
  • Coordinate hiring, training, and supervision of summer interns for the demand management program.
  • Work with multiple departments for program improvements and enhancements.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED is required; an associate or bachelor's degree in business, management, or information technologies is preferred.
  • Strong understanding of SAP and proficiency in Excel (macros and pivot tables) and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and organizational skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and excellent customer service skills.
  • Ability to work in a team environment and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in planning and operations structure related to water service and utility operations.
  • Solid understanding of capacity planning utilizing SAP is preferred.
  • Ability to work with multiple enterprise systems such as SAP, CRM, and GIS.
