The primary responsibility of the Mechanic-Electrician is to manage, repair, and maintain production equipment in our Somerset, NJ repackaging facility. This role requires an individual who excels in troubleshooting production equipment problems as well as proactively preventing issues that could delay or prevent the production of the company's products. This is a non-exempt (hourly paid) position and will involve overtime work. The Mechanic-Electrician will be integral in ensuring that all production machinery operates efficiently and effectively, contributing to the overall success of the manufacturing process. In this role, the Mechanic-Electrician will be tasked with repairing, maintaining, installing, and changing over production packaging machines and lines. Troubleshooting packaging machine problems and making necessary repairs in a timely manner is essential. The individual will also perform preventive maintenance on packaging machines and conveyors, ensuring that all equipment is functioning optimally. Recommendations for improvements and modifications to production operations and machines will be expected, as well as performing preventive maintenance tasks following established standards and schedules, which include lubrication, adjustments, and cleaning. The position requires experience in LOTO (Lockout/Tagout) training, general plant maintenance duties, and other facility-related tasks as needed. The Mechanic-Electrician will also perform electrical repairs to machinery, install and repair sensors, switches, and other components as needed on production lines, and must understand PLC (Programmable Logic Controller) logic. Additionally, the role involves performing facility electrical work, such as light installations and conduit work, and supporting new line installations while adhering to electrical safety standards and following Good Hygiene Practices (GHPs) and safety rules.
