About the position

The Demand Planner / Buyer at TETRA Technologies, Inc. is responsible for forecasting demand and managing procurement processes to ensure the availability of materials and services. This role involves analyzing market conditions, communicating forecasts to management, and implementing inventory management strategies. The position plays a crucial role in supporting the company's expansion into low carbon energy markets by ensuring efficient supply chain operations.

Responsibilities

  • Successfully communicate forecast and inventory estimations to management.
  • Model relevant data to forecast future demand.
  • Propose and implement solutions to improve demand forecast accuracy.
  • Monitor and report on important changes in sales forecasts, budgets, and business strategies that could impact supply and demand forecasts.
  • Collect, organize, and present data from internal and external sources on factors affecting supply and demand.
  • Analyze market and delivery conditions to determine present and future material availability and provide recommended actions.
  • Recommend, implement, and maintain inventory management philosophies (e.g., min/max, KANBAN).
  • Maintain procurement records per company policy, including costs, delivery, product quality, and inventories.
  • Develop and manage a system to evaluate vendor quotations using appropriate negotiation and purchasing techniques.
  • Discuss defective or unacceptable goods or services with relevant personnel to determine the source of trouble and take corrective action.
  • Prepare and issue purchase orders and change notices.
  • Review purchase order claims, contracts, and invoices for conformance to company policy.
  • Prepare and review contracts, bids, proposals, and vendor agreements for legal correctness and acceptability of items to specifications.
  • Ensure procured items are supplied with adequate documentation for engineering staff.
  • Work with suppliers to obtain product or service information such as price, availability, and delivery schedule.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business or a related field.
  • 3-5 years' experience in procurement in Specialty Chemicals.
  • Previous experience with Oracle, JD Edwards, and E1 is preferred.
