About the position

The Global Demand Planner at Medtronic will play a crucial role in managing the demand planning process for the Neuromodulation and Pelvic Health product portfolio. This hybrid position involves collaborating with cross-functional teams to develop and implement supply chain strategies that support business growth and profitability. The planner will focus on improving demand forecasting accuracy, managing inventory, and ensuring effective communication across the supply chain to enhance customer satisfaction and product cost management.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with regions and commercial partners to align on demand forecast in units, including both revenue and non-revenue.
  • Improve demand forecasting accuracy for internal and external customers by determining appropriate algorithms for statistical forecasts.
  • Review KPI (Forecast Accuracy, Bias and Forecast Value Add) and identify gaps and actions to improve and reach goals.
  • Analyze internal demand stream information and categorize according to demand patterns.
  • Support the monthly Integrated Business Planning cycle by providing recommendations for improvements based on data analytics.
  • Review historical sales trends, research demand drivers, and validate forecast results.
  • Maintain cross-functional linkages within the organization's demand planning software (AMPS Blue Yonder and Anaplan).
  • Provide demand forecast highlights in weekly S&OE meetings and ensure smooth demand/supply hand-off.
  • Address demand-related issues in a timely and effective manner and communicate potential solutions.
  • Incorporate decisions from the Global Demand Review into the plan and drive execution through the Supply Planning Team.
  • Maintain quality and consistency of Key Forecast Changes.
  • Streamline current processes and identify opportunities for improvement in the Demand Planner's activities.
  • Support New Product Introduction by translating market intel into demand unit forecasts and aligning with regions on revenue assumptions.
  • Drive process improvement as a change agent.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree required.
  • Minimum of 2 years of relevant experience, or advanced degree with 0 years of relevant experience.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities under pressure.
  • Strong analytical, data processing, and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office: Excel, Power BI, and PowerPoint.
  • Familiarity with forecasting/demand planning systems and tools.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in statistics and forecasting methods.
  • Experience building relationships with key internal and external customers.
  • Ability to communicate technical data to a non-technical audience.
  • Collaborative work style and customer-focused approach.

Nice-to-haves

  • Supply Chain background/experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of finance, sales, marketing, regulatory, R&D, and other supply chain functions.
  • Medical Device or other regulated industry experience.
  • Experience with large global manufacturer/distributor operations in a matrix organization.
  • Institute of Business Forecasting and/or APICS certification.
  • Experience applying DMAIC or lean sigma methodologies.
