About the position

Siemens Mobility, Inc. is seeking a Demand Planner to join our Customer Service business, focusing on ensuring parts availability for locomotive maintenance activities across various business segments. This role is pivotal in developing and implementing streamlined materials planning strategies, collaborating with multiple partners to enhance operational efficiency. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in SAP ERP Material Planning Module and have at least 3 years of experience in Material Planning. The Demand Planner will be responsible for analyzing data accurately and reporting on key metrics to support Maintenance Contracts and Spares. This position allows for a hybrid work arrangement, providing flexibility in work location while contributing to the overall success of the Supply Chain Management team. In this role, you will collaborate closely with Project Managers, Material Managers, and Engineering teams to identify parts that are unreleased, obsolete, or updated, evaluating their impact on maintenance schedules and developing appropriate mitigation plans. You will leverage your expertise in the ERP MRP system to manage planning processes, ensuring that forecasted demand is accurately entered and monitored. Your responsibilities will also include developing a low-risk materials planning strategy for assigned business segments, tracking relevant metrics, and generating reports to promote transparency and performance monitoring. As a key member of the team, you will drive process improvement initiatives aimed at increasing efficiency and achieving continuous improvement. Your ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously while prioritizing tasks and meeting deadlines will be crucial to your success in this role. Strong communication and interpersonal skills are essential, as you will be working with various stakeholders to address gaps and material shortages effectively.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with Project Managers, Material Managers, and Engineering to identify unreleased, obsolete, or updated parts.
  • Evaluate the impact of parts on maintenance schedules and develop mitigation plans.
  • Enter forecasted demand into the ERP MRP system and manage the planning process.
  • Develop a streamlined, low-risk materials planning strategy for assigned business segments.
  • Monitor end-to-end processes to ensure plan execution and secure material availability.
  • Track relevant metrics and generate reports, charts, and presentations to monitor performance.
  • Drive process improvement initiatives to increase efficiency and achieve continuous improvement.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Commercial, Manufacturing, or Engineering preferred; relevant experience may substitute for degree.
  • Minimum 3+ years of experience in Supply Chain Management/Materials Planning.
  • Proficient in SAP ERP Material Planning Module.
  • Expertise in data analysis and interpretation, with attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Experience with reporting automation initiatives using tools like Power BI, Tableau, or advanced Excel.
  • Experience in an engineer-to-order manufacturing environment.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

  • Expertise in SAP ERP implementation or customization projects.
  • Experience optimizing the efficiency of the interface between ERP MRP and CMMS.
  • Strong technical knowledge of procurement, inventory control, and process control.
