About the position

Tesla is hiring a Demand Planner to design and operate the geographic distribution of Tesla vehicles, deciding where each car goes once it gets built. Effectively managing vehicle supply post-production is critical to the company's success. The Demand Planner will manage Tesla's geographic allocation of vehicles to balance supply and demand while resolving outbound supply chain constraints. This role involves building tools and strategies to effectively route vehicles as they come out of the factory and match existing cars as they become available. The Demand Planner will work closely with the forecasting team to provide clear visibility into anticipated changes in distribution over time. Additionally, the position requires partnering with logistics and delivery teams to incorporate existing constraints into the routing model, identify bottlenecks in advance, and deal with unexpected challenges as they arise. The Demand Planner will also present business cases for distribution changes and investments to senior leadership of sales, finance, logistics, and delivery. Implementing distribution strategies will be done both through ad-hoc code (SQL, Python, etc.) and by partnering with IT to develop scalable long-term solutions. This role is essential in ensuring that Tesla's vehicle distribution aligns with the company's operational goals and customer demand.
