The Demand Planner at Worthington Steel will play a crucial role in implementing the global demand forecast process, which is essential for producing a rolling twelve-month forecast by month, customer, and item. This forecast will serve as the foundation for production planning and inventory control across the business globally. Additionally, it will provide the necessary platform for monthly financial forecasting and budgeting. The Demand Planner will collaborate closely with the Sales organization worldwide to effectively implement demand planning and forecasting tools, while also introducing a disciplined process for deviation analysis and continuous improvement. In this position, the Demand Planner will serve as the subject matter expert on demand planning tools and techniques. They will lead weekly forecast variance reviews to identify accounts that are off-track and drive corrective actions to address these discrepancies. Furthermore, the Demand Planner will lead global monthly demand reviews with site and corporate leadership, ensuring that all stakeholders are aligned on demand forecasts. Coordination with the commercial and finance teams will be essential to dollarize the forecast accurately. The Demand Planner will be responsible for executing the statistical engine and will actively participate in the Global Sales and Operations Planning (S&OP) processes, providing valuable insights on demand planning and forecasting. They will also engage in NAFTA Capacity Planning and liaise with operations and supply chain teams to resolve any issues that arise during production and material planning processes. The role will require producing data and assisting in the resolution of supply issues that necessitate order prioritization, allocation, or rationing. Additionally, the Demand Planner will perform ad-hoc analysis to generate data-driven insights that can be leveraged by the organization. They will develop issue documents to facilitate decision-making regarding raw material sourcing or production when demand projections create risk or uncertainty. The Demand Planner will also assist in the development and execution of the annual budgeting processes and will be tasked with identifying areas for process improvements in demand planning and forecasting methodologies.
